Sawaike (suh-WHY-kee; IPA: [səˈwaɪkiː]; Achika: Sawaike [saˈwaike]; lit. 'homeland'), officially the Dominion of Sawaike, is an island country in Polynesia. The country consists of 13 islands, with Sawaike ta 'Uike Nue being the largest of all, containing the majority of the country's population and serving as the cultural, linguistic, and political centre of the country.

Sawaike was first settled by Polynesian seafarers from ancient Samoa around 500 CE. The islands became a British protected statein 1833, with its defence and foreign relations handled by the United Kingdom.

Name

The name Sawaike loosely translates to 'homeland', sharing a common origin with Savai'i in Samoa, and Hawai'i itself.
